Cultural Insights Safari
Day 1: Arrival
Your safari guide and driver will meet you at Kilimanjaro International Airport. After going through Immigration, you will drive to Africa Amini Life, the original Maasai lodge at west Kilimanjaro, to learn how the Maasai use different plants and herbs for healing and preventative care, enjoy guided nature walk or spear throwing competition, and finish the evening with stories around the fire. All meals and overnight at Africa Amini Lodge.
Day 2: Full day at West Kilimanjaro
Live like a Maasai for one whole day. You will wake up early in the morning to dress traditionally and try your hand at milking a goat or cow in one of the Maasai settlements near the lodge. After a late brunch, men will collect healing plants, slaughter a goat and prepare the goat on the fire place while women collect firewood, repair Maasai houses and live a traditional life. Finish the evening with a special goat fire celebration and dances. During the whole day you will be accompanied by a Maasai guide who will explain you the deeper meaning of Maasai life. An experience you will never forget!
Day 3: Full day in Tarangire National Park
After breakfast, you will set out with picnic lunch to enjoy a full day of game drives in Tarangire National Park; your private guide will set a great spot for picnic set up, meals and overnight at your lodge in Tarangire.
Day 4: Tarangire to Lake Manyara National Park
After breakfast, set out again with picnic lunch and drive towards Lake Manyara National Park to you will enjoy a full day of game drives in this park. In the evening, drive to Kisima Ngeda tented Camp for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Full day at Lake Eyasi
After breakfast, you will set out with the local crew of hunters from the Hadzabe tribes for a hunt along the forests and bushes. Return to your lodge for lunch before setting out for a visit with the Datooga tribes, believed to be the last remaining tribes living off of gathering activities. Finish the day with a late afternoon drive to your lodge at Karatu for dinner and overnight stay.
Days 6 & 7: Two full days in Central Serengeti
After breakfast, you will set out again and enjoy a full day of game drives in Serengeti National Park, stopping for a picnic lunch with beautiful views. You will stay at your camp or lodge in the park for two nights, enjoying game drives during the day.
Day 8: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast, you will depart very early in the morning and drive through Serengeti Plains to the crater rim to enjoy stunning views of the world-famous caldera before descending slowly down to the crater floor to view the wildlife before ascending again for an evening drive to your lodge.
Day 9: Departure
After breakfast, you will drive with your guide to Kilimanjaro to connect with your outbound flight home.
